Fact of the Day: Trees Are Nice

South Carolina got it's nickname "The Palmetto State" from the Battle of Sullivan's Island in 1776. The British attempted to take a fort on the island, but the logs made of palmetto trees were quite strong against cannonballs. Which helped lead to a colonial victory.
