Fact of the Day: Evil Soda

South Carolina Governor Coleman Blease hated soda which was a rather new drink in his time. He was so passionate about it that he stated his disgust in his inaugural address in 1911 where he called drinks like Coca-Cola and Pepsi "evil" and begged people to drink beer instead.

  11. While I don't drink it myself, my husbands dad worked for Pepsi for 40 years. It kept food on the table, so I won't bash it.
