A Look Into Video Games: Pokemon Trainer (Smash Bros.)

The original Pokemon Trainer may be known as Ash Ketchum in the cartoon, and Red in the actual games, but he made a pretty awesome appearance in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. He didn't fight exactly, but you could control 3 different characters with Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Charizard.

Random Photos: My Plants

So with spring time coming shortly, it's sparked my interest in growing fruits, vegetables, and flowers. The first thing I tried to grow was strawberries.

Fact of the Day: Atlas' Island

A Look Into Video Games: Lucario (Smash Bros.)

Lucario might of been a new pokemon, but his huge popularity in Japan got him into Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Which is something I didn't mind, except he replaced Mewtwo as a result.

My Favorite Photos: Blue Birdhouse

I always like to try new hobbies, and Daisy and I started painting actual stuff. They had little wooden birdhouses at the craft section so it was an easy pick.

Fact of the Day: Reagan Cheered!

During his college days at Eureka College in Illinois, future-president Ronald Reagan was a cheerleader.

A Look Into Video Games: Olimar (Smash Bros.)

Captain Olimar is the star of the Pikmin series, and despite having just two somewhat successful Gamecube games, he did appear in the third Super Smash Bros game in Brawl.

Things I Like: The Dark Knight (2008 Film)

In 2008 I had never seen Batman Begins (though I saw it later) but I was really hyped up for the sequel The Dark Knight. It was really hard to believe the super-excitement over the film. I think I saw it for my birthday in theaters while it was still fresh.

Pickens County School Board Changes Prayer Policy

Nothing much happens here in my home state of South Carolina, but one story that made a big splash in local news involves the school board for Pickens County.  Even though they have no control over the schools in my area, they are only two small counties to the west. The school board was using student-led Christian prayers to begin each meeting, until the Freedom From Religion Foundation sent them an objection to it.

My Favorite Photos: Mr. K and Grandma Donna

This was taken back in 2010, this is my nephew Mr. K and my mom. He's about to turn 4 soon, and it's hard to believe how time files so fast. His brother Mr. C wasn't even born yet.

Fact of the Day: Ice Skating's Origin

Ice Skates are believed to have originated in southern Finland more than 3000 years ago. Except the primitive "skates" merely glided on the ice.

Meta Knight was Kirby's main rival/ally in the Kirby series, and he showed up in the third Super Smash Bros game with Brawl.

My Favorite Photos: Daisy With Her Easter Friends

I took this photo the other day when we saw all the Easter stuff already out. Daisy always wants one of the bunnies every year. I got her the blue one in 2011, and the pink one in 2012. She loved seeing the new versions out this year.

Fact of the Day: Mark Twain's Real Name

A Look Into Video Games: King Dedede (Smash Bros.)

King Dedede was Kirby's main nemesis but it was rather odd that he got left out of the Melee. Espeically considered the guy behind the series was the creator of Kirby. He did make it in finally with Brawl.

My Favorite Photos: My Easter Bunny

I took this photo the other day with my fiancee Daisy after we saw all the Easter stuff already out.

Fact of the Day: American Dinosaur

While the famous T-Rex is known across the world, fossils of the mighty dinosaur have only been found in North America. Mostly in the western parts of the United States and Canada.

A Look Into Video Games: Lucas (Smash Bros.)

Lucas is the second character from the Earthbound series to make a playable appearance in Smash Bros. Lucas joined Ness in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. However most Americans never knew of Lucas beforehand as he starred in Earthbound's Japan-only sequel Mother 3.

My Favorite Photos: Mr. K Sees the Fish

This was taken a few years ago down at the Charleston Aquarium in South Carolina. I sadly didn't get to go down to visit, but they did take pictures of the visit. Here's my nephew seeing one of the first fish tanks in the place.

A Look Into Video Games: Ike (Smash Bros.)

Ike made his big debut with Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, so it wasn't a shocker that he was included in the cast of Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Basically replacing Roy as the alternate Fire Emblem character.

Fact of the Day: American Pepper

The Chili Pepper originated in the Americas. Christopher Columbus' crew brought some back to Europe after one of his voyages. The pepper was later spread across the globe which led to new varieties that many enjoy today.

My Favorite Photos: Daisy and Mr. Polar Bear

Daisy and I were really disappointed when the giant polar bear with a heart was not at the mall this year like he was 2 years before. But the other day they got a new polar bear, and of course Miss Daisy wanted it.

My Favorite Photos: It Has Begun

I took this on February 15th of this year. Which was the first whole day Daisy and I were engaged to be married. And she wanted to go to the bridal shop to look at dresses. But the wedding is not in the near-future, so she was just looking.

A Look Into Video Games: Roy (Smash Bros.)

Roy was the 2nd surprise character from the Fire Emblem series to appear in Super Smash Bros. Melee. Unlike Marth, even gamers in Japan didn't really know Roy. His first game was Melee, as he was included to boost interest in a Fire Emblem sequel he starred in that would come out soon after.

Fact of the Day: Otto's City

A Look Into Video Games: Marth (Smash Bros.)

Marth first appeared as a hidden character in Super Smash Bros. Melee. For Americans, Marth was a total surprise  As Fire Emblem was a Japanese-only series at the time. Nintendo had once considered keeping Marth (and Roy) out of the American version of Melee. Instead their popularity led Nintendo to give Fire Emblem a chance in America, and it worked.

Fact of the Day: Many Moons

While the Earth has only one single moon, Jupiter has many more. Many know of the four large moons named Europa, Ganymede, Io, and Callisto which were first discovered by Galileo Galilei in 1610. Since then we've noticed 67 moons orbiting Jupiter, though the other 63 moons are very small in comparison to the Galilean moons.

Bungie Reveals Post-Halo Game Destiny

When Bungie left the Halo series they created, many gamers were utterly shocked by the news. It was easier news to take when they decided to make one last game with Halo: Reach. But I guess I can understand their situation. It would be lame to make the same game over and over. But what have they've been working on since then? Well a new FPS called Destiny.

My Favorite Photos: Mike The Cat

Mike is my brother Brandon's and his wife Terry's cat. Sadly Mike has cancer, and today will be his last day among us. I'm happy I have photos where I can see Mike healthy and happy. It was very depressing to see him in his condition when I visited him two days ago. He'll be missed.

Fact of the Day: Harvard Cheers

As a college student, future-president Franklin Delano Roosevelt was a cheerleader for Harvard.

Mario Kart 7 (3DS) Review

I have been a big fan of the Mario Kart games since the original title on SNES. I spent many days playing Mario Kart: Double Dash with my brother in very bitter matches. And Mario Kart DS was the very first game I ever played online. So when I got my 3DS, Mario Kart 7 was an easy choice.

It Snowed Yesterday

We don't get much snow in South Carolina, in-fact when the snow hits people start to go a little crazy. Supermarkets usually get super-busy, roads are terrible, and everything comes to a halt. It came out of nowhere too. It went from nice and clear to a blizzard in just an hour.

Fact of the Day: Olympic Continents

While the modern Olympic games has been hosted in countless countries, it has never hosted either the summer or winter games in South America, Africa, and Antarctica as of 2013. In 2016 the Olympics will add another continent to its legacy as the summer games are to be hosted in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

A Look Into Video Games: Mewtwo (Smash Bros.)

Mewtwo was the ultimate Pokemon to get in the original Red and Blue games, but he was left out of the original Smash Bros. Mewtwo did appear in it's sequel Super Smash Bros. Melee.

My Favorite Photos: Little Iz Waves Hello

My brother took this photo of my niece Little Iz the other day. I got to see her again yesterday. It was the first time I saw her where you could tell she could see and understand most of what was going around her. She's already watching TV, though I don't think she understands her dad's basketball games.

Fact of the Day: Mountain King

Despite being called a mountain goat, the animal is not a true goat. Goats are members of the genus Capra, while the mountain goat is the sole living-member of the genus Oreamnos. They both are closely related as both belong to the sub-family Caprinae.

My Valentine's Day 2013

2013 means it's our third Valentine's Day together, and we've been together for almost 3 years in April. The number one thing Daisy asked for this year was this teddy bear. They have them every year, but she's gotten all the colored bears except this pink one.

Fact of the Day: Lovely Memorial

When his wife died in childbirth, Emperor Shah Jahan decided to build a palace in her memory. It's known today as the legendary Taj Mahal.

My Favorite Photos: Red Valentines Day Bear

I took this photo a few days ago and Daisy saw the first teddy bear I got her for Valentines Day along with the one I got her last year. They are slightly different, but those are her favorites. She still has them at home, but she always like to see the new versions for the year.

Fact of the Day: Valentine Who?

Valentines Day is obviously named after Saint Valentine. Ironically little is known about St. Valentine except his name and that he died on the Via Flaminia road near Rome. Almost everything else about his life is debated and uncertain.

A Look Into Video Games: Young Link (Smash Bros.)

With Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask being such classic Zelda games, it was no wonder that Link's younger self made an appearance as a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Melee.

My Favorite Photos: Little Iz and Her Grandma

This was taken yesterday by my brother when my mom went to visit my niece. I haven't seen her for maybe a week, and she's already grown so much. I'm glad to see that she's gotten to the stage where she can open her eyes most of the time. My mom says she thinks Little Iz knows who she is now.

Fact of the Day: July Valentine

While the date of Valentine's Day is February 14th, the Eastern Orthodox Church and other Eastern churches declares the date to be July 6th.

A Look Into Video Games: Falco (Smash Bros.)

Falco might of been the strongest member of Fox's crew in the Starfox games, but he got left out of the original Super Smash Bros. He did appear in it's sequel Melee, and the third game Brawl.

My Favorite Photos: Blue Meets Mr. C

This was taken a few weeks ago when my niece Little Iz was maybe a week old I think. Well my other brother and his two sons came over to see her. They didn't pay much attention to the baby, but Mr. C loved my brother's dog Blue. She's a huge Great Dane (yet not even a year old yet) and she was so excited to see everybody.

Fact of the Day: China's Valentines Day

While Valentine's Day is celebrated in China by some, another romantic event is the Qixi Festival which is often translated as "Night of Sevens". The festival is more about improving domestic arts and wishes for a good husband. It's celebrated on the 7th day of the 7th lunar month and originated during the Han Dynasty.

A Look Into Video Games: Ganondorf (Smash Bros.)

Since Ganondorf first appeared (he'd previously only had been shown in his monster form) in 1998, I guess it was no surprise he was left of the original Super Smash Bros. a year later. But in 2001, he made his first major appearance in Melee.

My Favorite Photos: Big Heart of Chocolates

I took this yesterday when me and Daisy where at the mall. She practically ran over to them when she saw them. Followed by countless attempts to convince me to get them for her.
