Fact of the Day: Good Italia

While Italy was known as one of the major countries in the Axis powers, it actually switched sides before World War II was over. Mussolini was overthrown and his subordinates followed, leading Italy to kick the fascists out of power and join the Allied forces.

  1. I don't know what to say, being Italian fascism was a real shame, however what happened to mussolini next was a real form of barbarism....

  3. their Nazi forces invaded half of my ex country in the war and the pope supported it..... We had the horrid misfortune for all our neighbours to be Nazi countries from Italy, to Austria, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Albania..... We were like a lamb surrounded by wolves....

  5. Italy switched sides because the Allies invaded and fought their way up from Sicily to northern Italy.

  7. The Germans didn't benefit much from having the Italians on their side, and neither did the Allied Powers when Italy joined them. Italians haven't been decent fighters since the Fall of Ancient Rome.
