Fact of the Day: Spartan Kings

The Greek city-state of Sparta was well known for its army and culture. It was quite unique for its monarchy, as Sparta had two kings who ruled at the same time. However neither king had much power especially in comparison to other kings of the time.

  8. The Spartan's were so warlike that a mother, on learning her seven sons had been killed in battle, only asked, "Did we win the battle?"
