Things I Hate: Algebra

Math was one of my least favorite things in school, and I never understood the point of algebra. I've never used it in real life, and even the people that explain its usefulness in real life don't sound too convincing too me. It always seemed like algebra was created to become just busy-work for math students.

  1. Hear hear! I hated Math, although I'd take Algebra any day instead of Calculus.

  2. I found math easy in that it is pretty black and white, no grey areas as opposed to literature.

  3. I always struggled with math, especially in college, but I do recognize it's beauty. It's the absolute language of the Universe.

  4. I hate all math. Unless it's adding dollars that are coming my way. The rest can suck it.

  5. Algebra was a thorn in my side also, plus trigonometry and calculus.
The students from my last senior year in college did these just like the A B C, thus
they all were students who sat for the "honours" exams.
I loved my history and geography and did the "honours" exams in these.
Nothing like finishing college or what we call high school here in Australia in those
days 1960's with a "Hon 1 or 2" after your name when the results came out.
Now it is a completely different system and I don't believe that it is an improvement!
    Cheers
    Colin

  6. its only use is to exercise our brains, thinking and solving problems usually creates new synapses or something like that in our brains. But I still hate math just like you do.

  7. I wasn't a fan either. But it did make me think. And work hard.

  8. I used it to make a pie, once. I blogged about it.
