Question: Were You a Confident New Driver?

I sure wasn't a confident driver, sometimes even today. I actually trust myself even back then, but it's the other fools on the road I don't trust. Though driving a car for the first time was scary as reality does sink in. My method of learning was to drive a small amount and going a little farther the next time and so on and so on.

Were you more or less confident as a new driver?

  1. I'm a bit of a crazy driver, but when you see an accident on the side of the road, reality sets in.

  2. I'm still not confident, decades later, it is a whole lot busier now too.

  3. I was confident. The first day as a new driver I drove to the mall. My mother didn't give it a second thought. I'm the opposite with my son. Worry wart.

  4. I was fairly confident driving until I moved to the States. I didn't drive for a year because of those six lane freeways and all the traffic, but then I finally had to get behind the wheel and relearned by driving around Washington DC and the outer Metropolitan area. Any confidence I had flew out the window. It was a horrifying experience but gradually I became one with the wheel ;)

  5. I was a typical young person. I drove all the time to Chicago in a beat up car that could have gone down any time.
    Much more cautious now:)

  8. Not at first but I quickly caught on. I didn't get my license until I was 24 years old though.

  9. Heavens no!. I am still not as much as I should be. Probably my age has something to do with it. I had a hard time getting drivers license. Instructor finally just gave up and let me have it.

  10. I'm more confident in smaller areas. The busier and crazier it is, the less I like driving.
