Clear and Present Danger (1994 Film) Review

While I've never read his books, Tom Clancy is certainly a talented writer since I've enjoyed every single movie based on his work. This one is considered a direct sequel to Patriot Games, even though The Hunt For Red October was part of Jack Ryan's history in the books. I've learned that the character has had quite a bit of a shuffle when it comes to actors. Though Harrison Ford did portray him in Patriot Games.
The film takes place some time after Patriot Games. Jack Ryan gets a bit of a promotion and ends up meeting the president. Though it is not a happy visit, as he informs the president over the tragic news of his friend. They end up figuring out that the folks behind it are located in the South American country of Columbia.
Unknown to Jack Ryan, the government has come up with a mission to get revenge on the bad guys in Colombia. They ask a man named John Clark for help, and he creates a team of men that are skilled enough for the job. Though when international politics get messy, things might not look very good for any side.
I was pretty sure I would enjoy this film with another story about Jack Ryan, and I quite liked it. I couldn't say I liked this one more than the previous two. Though I still need to watch The Sum of All Fears when I get a chance. If it's nearly as good as the three movies before it, I'll be a happy person for sure.

Score: A-

  3. There are bad guys in Colombia? Say it ain't so! The firt time I watched Patriot Games at our local movie theater, I fell asleep. But it couldn't have been because of the movie. I mean, I was sitting right next to a hot date and I still fell asleep.
