Fact of the Day: Retired Flag

After the American Civil War, a woman asked Robert E. Lee what to do with her Confederate flag. He said "fold it up and put it away". Lee supported President Andrew Johnson's plan of Reconstruction of the South back to the United States of the America.

  2. Isn't General Lee's uniform encased in West Point?
What about the statues of him also - don't they still stand.
What happened happened - that part of US history can't be
    ignored.
We, here, have acknowledged what was done to the native peoples
here - facts are facts. It was a formal apology in the Federal Parliament
by the government of the day - actually only a few years ago.

  8. The South lost its greatest friend when Lincoln was killed. Reconstruction would have been so much different with Lincoln in charge.
