Fact of the Day: Turtle Difference

The main difference between turtles and tortoises is where they live. Turtles live in water and tortoises live on land. Tortoises also generally can't swim especially in deep water.

  1. Another fact is that they have the longest life span of any living animal.
Up to 150 years is common and some even well over the 200 mark.
Who would really like to live that bloody long???

  3. Ah, so maybe it's a tortoise I see in my yard in the morning instead of a turtle.

  8. When I was little I was a huge TMNT fan, so I really wanted to have one as a pet, but then my mum told me they bite and I got super scared and I didn't want them anymore. But now I have a boyfriend named Leonardo, so I guess my dream still came true!

  9. We were at a petting zoo last week and saw what we called "a giant turtle." My brother-in-law pointed out it wasn't a turtle, it was a tortoise. I'm glad I now know the difference! Before this, I thought maybe a tortoise was just bigger.
