Fact of the Day: United Nations

The United Nations was founded after the end of World War II. In 1945 the UN had 51 members (countries), and now has 193 members today. There are 196 countries in the world though a few them are not fully recognized.

  1. The "Talk Fest" capital building in the World!
Appropriate that it is in New York.
The ideals of the founding fathers of this organisation disappeared when the
last of the 51 founding nations signed on the dotted line.
All it is good for now is countries paying for "hot air", the New York real estate market
making heaps from rentals of diplomats and staff, agreeing on nothing, having a clause for a veto by the permanent big 5 and that stops everything in developing.
The organisation is one bloody BIG JOKE!

    1. I suppose Cloudia or is that Claudia??
Well in 1945 with only 51 members, there were hopes, but with now 193 members and some the size of Island states, it would be a miracle of
miracles for agreement. Nauru - just off the Australian coastline has a representative in the General Assembly - this country is as poor as the proverbial "church mouse" !
Then the big 5 - China (P.R.C), France, Russia, the UK and the USA having
a veto power and these 5 can't agree on anything of importance, the whole idea of the UN is nothing but a "pipe's dream" - actually I think stuff in the pipe that is not good for one's health - ha ha.

  7. they've lost any significance the moment they started supporting or turning a blind eye on the evil around the world... especially on the evil some of their leading members are commiting.
