Question: Do You Rise and Shine?

I have noticed something lately is that while I try to get as much sleep as possible, I also don't like waking up past 10 a.m. because (especially on a day off) it can seem like I have less time in the day. Now I try to be up by 8 a.m. to spend my time on something useful rather than getting more than eight hours of sleep.

Do you get up early or stay asleep later in the day?

  1. I definitely prefer getting up early - sleeping past 10am is beyond me! :-)

    Have a great day,

  2. Early riser here. It annoys me that it is so dark in the a.m. where I live.

  3. I'm up at 5:30 a.m. every morning (7 hrs sleep) except on the weekend I may sleep in until 7:00 a.m. You know what Benjamin Franklin said: "Early to bed and early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise."

  4. I have a tendency of waking with the sun. The moment it cracks the horizon I snap awake.

  5. I loved sleeping in as a child and young adult, staying awake late at night. Now I seem to need less sleep and am up at about 7am. But I don't sleep often until 1 am.

  6. I usually rise between five and six am. I'm most energetic and creative in the morning.

  7. I usually wake up before 7:30 AM before my alarm goes off. If I get up later I feel it's a waste of time and makes the day shorter. I usually go to sleep at about 11:30 PM

  8. I have no set time unless I have an appointment. Usually, I am up by 7:30 a,m. I could very easily be a night person, but do not want that, I enjoy the daylight and being outside.

  9. Always have been a "crack of dawn" out of bed person.
Never really a night person - maybe when I was around your age
Adam - but 10.00 pm definitely now has me in bed and ASLEEP.
As an 8 -10 year old on the beef cattle property my family own,
I was up a 5.00 am, and then washed, breakfasted, feed chooks,
caught pony, got in the "milking couple of cows", the rode 7 miles
across paddocks to the little country school. Going by the road
    was 15 miles.!!!
Now kids can't cross a road without a "lollypop" person! Piss weak little
    "dears".

    1. =Dear Mr. Hunnicut...now you have given us a hint of your age. I have wondered.
Now, I have to tell you that I like you because I am thinking you may be older than me and I like ANYone that's older than me. lol
I was born on the last day of Dec., 1937...so I wasn't old enuf to milk cows, get up at 5 am, catch ponies in the early 40's...(well, you didn't really give us a year)...however, by 1944, I was 7 and since we lived in downtown Dallas, I didn't have those kind of chores to do. I guess I was piss weak...my daddy walked with me across railroad tracks behind our house every morning to school.

    2. 1. I was born in September 1943. Dad was at war in Papua New Guinea.
So I am younger. I attended boarding college for 5 High school years or in US terms - college years from 1956 - 1960. The largest all boys boarding college in the Southern Hemisphere - St. Joseph's College, Hunters Hill, Sydney.
You can google the college. Then it had 750 boarders.
      2. Our family had a 35,000 acre beef property up on the NSW/Qld border
I was able to walk / wade across the river into Qld.
      3. It was early 1950's when I rode the 7 miles to the little - 30 kids school
in the small town of Boomi.
      4. The stockmen milked the cows when they got up. It was not a chore as Americans say to get the cows in to the yard for this.
      5. Surely you could see on-coming trains????
Colin aka B J Hunnicut ( surely you can work out the "nome de plume"!!!)

Now your questions have been put to rest.

  12. I'm a very early riser. Sometimes I'm up as early as 5:00 AM, and never past 7:00. I like the morning hours. I feel like I have a nice long day ahead and get a lot done by noon.

  13. Generally I wake up around 6.30 to 7.00 a.m. but if I have a late night I sleep in. I don't like to do that either as I am more active in the morning and this is why I like to get an early start.

  14. I rise, but I don't shine. Most days I am up at 6:30, but I laze around until about 9.

  15. I don't think I've ever slept pass ten o'clock! I'm up at about 7 and ten minutes after I'm already doing things and working
