Fact of the Day: 2nd Bill of Rights

In 1944 President Franklin D. Roosevelt proposed a 2nd Bill of Rights for Americans. Some of the things he wanted to be included was a right to be employed with a living wage, a right to education, a right to food/clothing, a right to health care, a right to social security, and freedom from monopolies. FDR died in 1945 before any of these could be considered by Congress.

  1. Wonderful aspirations but unfortunately didn't come to fruition.
Then again in those days there was no Tea party loonies, no Trumps or Sarah Palins , no Bush families in power of influence - President Bush Snr. did his WW2 war duties, pity about Bush Jnr., he with certain Texan powers did not go to Vietnam - just "National Service".
Then years later with such pomp and stupidity lands on an aircraft carrier and declares
a win in a war??? What war - to the best of my knowledge that war zone has got worse!
I think Eleanor may have had much to do with these worthy aspirations and in those days people wanted to work. Now bludging seems to be the way to go and expect everything from the government. Unfortunately this seems to be a world wide 'malaise".

  2. Sad none of his aspirations came to pass. But I really like the list.

  6. Darn shame he died before he could see these things through.

  7. A great list from a great president. Had he not been spending most of his time waging WWII, he might have accomplished more of the things on this list.
