Fact of the Day: Halloween City

Both Salem, Massachusetts and Anoka, Minnesota claim to be the Halloween capital of the world. Salem was well-known for historical witch trials while Anoka was one of the first cities that discouraged pranks on Halloween.

  1. From that bit of history, I think I'd have to vote for Salem as the capital...though I imagine visiting both cities at around this time of year would give a better vantage on which to vote for.

  6. In my younger years, I visited Massachusetts many times but never went to Salem. Maybe at some point we'll pass through it.

  7. I agree that the madness of Salem is nothing to be proud of. It is good for Halloween pranks to be discouraged though.
