Fact of the Day: Old Man of the Mountain

In New Hampshire there was a rock formation on a set of cliffs that looked like a human face. They called it Old Man of the Mountain. In the 20th century they noticed that weather had been damaging it. Despite many years of trying to save it, it did collapse on May 3rd, 2003.

  3. That was a neat rock; it's too bad it collapsed. But it's hard to fight against nature. There's a town near me called Steamboat Rock because a cliff/rock near it on the Iowa River looked like a steamboat. I'm afraid that rock met the same fate quite a long time ago.

  6. What a shame that the weather is damaging it! Here in Sicily we have a mountain that looks like two faces kissing...it's unbelievable!
