Question: Did You Like School Lunch?

And by that I meant the lunch that was served in the cafeteria. I remember liking it a lot in elementary school. My favorite was the square-shaped pizza and there was some kind juice-bar that was almost like ice cream. I don't remember much about the middle school one, but I remember even the pizza at high school was awful.

Did you like school lunch?

  1. The school in my one horse town was so small it didn't have a cafeteria. If you had to stay at school for lunch, you brown-bagged it.

  2. We didn't have lunch at school either. Most of us walked home for lunch but those who couldn't brought their own.

  3. All the students lived within walking distance of my elementary school, so we all went home for lunch. There was no cafeteria.

  4. Very few cafeterias here for school lunches - kids (students) take packed lunches
and where there are cafeterias - generally supervised by mothers, then the food
available is always fresh and certainly not of the MacDonalds standard of junk
    food.

    1. Footnote:
In small towns - kids walk home for lunch - even in cities when they live close to the school.

  5. Loved it in elementary...in high school, we had 2 little cafes across the street where we ate lunch every day. I can't remember even one time of eating in the cafeteria in high school.

  6. I do have fond memories of school lunch, always preferred to home-made sandwiches! It could get quite junky though, thinking fries, gravy, donuts. Maybe things have improved.

  9. When I went to school, lunches were made from scratch in the cafeteria. They were delicious and cost 25 cents, I think. Maybe less. Anyway, yes. I liked them very much!

  10. We didn't have school lunches until I went to high school. It was a small school and the cafeteria gals cooked everything from scratch. The food was excellent. Especially the desserts!

  12. When I went to school here in Tasmania, no school served lunch like in the photo.
We had 'tuck shop' where you buy small items to eat, all parents cut their children's lunch back in my day, but I believe a few school provide sandwiches which can be purchased at the 'tuck shop'.

  13. There were no cafeterias in any of the places I lived. Some schools we went home for lunch, others we brown-bagged it. Happy Weekend to you and Daisy!

  15. we mostly didn't and don't have it here. Kids either bring a sandwich from home or buy something in shops or bakeries near their schools.
