Question: Have You Ever Been Fishing?

While I'm a vegetarian I have been fishing. My dad took me once when I was little before he passed away. My friend in middle school had a lake house, so we fished right off the boat dock. We only caught small fish and threw them back into the water. I have about no interest in it now, and you'll never find me with a fishing rod on a lake.

Do you ever fish?

  2. I hope the guy in the wheel chair doesn't get a big one. Ker-splash

My father was known as Minnesota's greatest walleye fisherman. I
was fishing before I could walk. I also learned to swim before I could walk. He threw me overboard and it was swim or sink. But I don't remember that, I just knew I could always swim. LOL

  3. I went deep sea fishing once about 30 years ago and have fished when I was a kid, but that's it.

  4. Have done it, but not my thing. One of my sisters loves it.

  5. Yes, all the time as a kid. Though this coming season and friend of mine and I are thinking of giving it another go, just so we can eat fresh.

  6. I haven't - fishing holds the same appeal to me as watching paint dry!

  7. I've been fishing a few times but not in a long time. Hubby and my brother love to go fishing though.

  8. My son loves to fish. He's a catch and release man. It bothers him when he sees them hauled in and not put back.

  9. I've only caught a fish once, in a boat out in the middle of a Saskatchewan lake -- a pickerel (or walleye as some people call them). It scared me to death to feel the fish fighting for its life against my line. I have no desire to fish again.

  10. Yes when I was a kid and when I was in Papua New Guinea but I was pretty
bored most of the time. Tried spear fishing in my PNG days, but the fish were the winners on that one. The natives were absolutely excellent at this form of fishing.
Also had a go at deep sea fishing once and supplied the fish with "sea sick food" the whole day, that was the end of that activity. Never have I been so pleased to stand on "Terra Firma" after that stint.
However I do love to eat freshly caught fish - sea fish rather than the fresh water variety.

  11. I went fishing once when I was a little girl - with a girlfriend and her family. We didn't fish though, we just went chasing dragonflies ;)

  12. Nope-not a fisher(wo)man here. We used to fish in the farm ponds when I was a kid but it was catch and release. We never ate them.

  14. I enjoy fishing when they bite. Have no patience if they do not. Also, enjoy eating them.

  16. I've been along with others fishing (once) but didn't do it myself. And once was enough. Watching fish struggling to live freaked me out.

  20. Went once and thought it was gross. I didn't even want to put the worm on the hook and thankfully, didn't catch anything because I would be grossed out if I had to take a fish off a hook!

  21. I love eating fish, but not fishing. I don't want to see the hook in their mouth and watching them suffocate to death. Guess I'm a wuss.

  24. I remember watching my father fish when I was a little girl. While I watched, I played with the worms. Once my mother asked me, "What are you doing?" She says I responded, "Fellowshipping with the worms." Well, since then I've found slightly better company to associate with, but, should I ever, God forbid, lose all my friends, I will have something to fall back on. Instead of saying, "I guess I'll go eat worms", I guess I'll just have to go back to "fellowshipping" with them... *gasp* oh well, it's better than eating them, something I never did... ;)

When I was a little older, my father taught me how to fish. I enjoyed fishing, but always caught and released. I haven't gone fishing now for about 5 years... would be good to sometime again.
