Fact of the Day: Wine Monk

In the 17th century there lived a French monk named Dom Perignon. Many believe he invented sparkling champagne, but this is not true. Though his techniques for wine-making led his champagnes to become famous.

  1. hmmmmmmm
i didn't know that, thanks for the info.

    have a blessed day

  2. Ah t'is true, but Dom Pierre Perignon was an expert in the growing of the fine wine grapes in the famous vineyards of "La Belle France" way back in the 17th Century.
Imagine what would we have missed if it wasn't for those dedicated Benedictine monks???
And now look at the prices of the fair Dom Perignon champagnes!!!!
Ah "the nectar of the "gods". Get out of the way Bacchus, you're in the bloody way between me and that vintage bottle.

  5. Like lots of things, invented already but he brought it fame

  6. Interesting, Dom Perignon is very expensive

  7. Maybe its an Urban legend, but I heard when Dom Perignon first samples his new champagne he said, "It tastes like the stars."

  8. Interesting fact for my sister! Whoever made sparkling cider, I love them. Haha
I don't drink besides occasionally wine, beer, or whiskey if I'm super depressed.
