Fact of the Day: Copper

Copper's abbreviation on the periodic table is Cu. It is short for the Latin word Cuprum, one of the Latin words for copper. Its name basically meant "Cyprus metal".

  7. I had to learn all the periodic table when I was in school. Remember some but not very many.
    I remember when pennies were really copper. : ) I think they were 95% copper before 1982.
