Fact of the Day: Adelie Penguin

Adelie penguins are named after Adele Dumont D'Urville who was the wife of French explorer Jules Dumont d'Urville. Jules discovered the region of Antarctica where the penguins live.

  3. The British Naturalist (Sir) David Attenborough has done an excellent series on the wildlife of Antarctica, featuring this species of penguin and another species - King Penguins, I think. They may waddle and look funny but holy hell try to match them in speed in the water - like little "pocket rockets".
    I wonder what on earth would a US Coast Guard ship be doing way down in Antarctica???? Certainly way out of USA coastal and patrol/sovereign control waters??
