Fact of the Day: An Apple A Day

A common phrase is "An apple a day keeps the doctor away" which stresses that proper nutrition can lead to a healthier body. The phrase originated in the 1860s by Caroline Taggart who said originally ‘‘Eat an apple on going to bed, and you’ll keep the doctor from earning his bread.”.

  1. Ha ha - well the medical profession may not be that keen on the saying - especially the last part "earning his bread"!
But an apple before going to bed???
That may have made the smile return??
