Fact of the Day; East Germany

East Germany was founded after World War II essentially becoming a puppet-state of the Soviet Union. Out of the whole Eastern Bloc of communist countries in Europe, East Germany's economy was the strongest. However despite that, it couldn't keep up with the economic growth of West Germany.

  1. One day, an old b-movie actor suggested they tear down the wall. So they did.

David Hasselhoff sang and everyone lived happily ever after.

    1. I believe a bit before Ronnie Reagan, there was a US President who let Nicky Khrushchev know what he thought of the Wall - JFK for short.
And then Mikhael Gorbachev thought along the same lines as Ronnie and put the "hard arm screw" onto the East German "Stalinist" leaders.
And so down the hideous monstrosity came tumbling down.

    3. Comical comment???
Not sure that the enslaved East Germans would think it amusing.
I hope NEXT when you BUNGEE JUMP that you remember to tie the rope around your feet and NOT your neck!

  3. The "so-called" Workers paradise of the Soviet Blog!!
What a joke. The East Germans could look across walls and
see for themselves that those in the West seemed to be far better off - someone forgot to tell the men in the Kremlin.
