Back in 2006 I had imported the Japanese-only game Jump Super Stars for my Nintendo DS. It was like Super Smash Bros. with anime characters and you didn't really need you to know how to read Japanese to enjoy it. The game didn't have online multiplayer so it had to be local. I convinced a class-mate to get it and he brought his to school. We had free-time to play but when I asked him to play a versus match, he said he didn't want to ruin his "record" as it kept a long-term statistics of how many wins and losses you had. When virtually nobody else around us ever had the game, I felt that was rather messed up.
