Fact of the Day: Schizophrenia

While schizophrenia is a commonly known mental disorder, most people incorrectly think it means a person has multiple personalities. The illness does not produce such a symptom. Common signs are abnormal social behavior, hearing voices that aren't there, and being unable to tell what is real and what is not.

  8. I know it now, but when I was younger I thought that who has this disorder just always steal different things of other people hehe.
It's because when I was a kid I watched a show where in one episode talked about that many raccoons in USA have schizophrenia and steal things from houses of people.

  10. I had a student who exhibited schizophrenia symptoms. His hearing of voices was unsettling. I was always uneasy about what he would do next, because he was prone to violence. I finally got mental health services for him and then he moved. But a teacher has to try!
