Fact of the Day: Catholic Lights

Historically the Catholic Church has opposed many advancements in social issues and science, one of the funnier ones came under the rule of the very conservative Pope Gregory XVI in the 19th century. It was during his time that the Catholic Church opposed simple advancements like gas-lights and trains. He actually referred to railways as "roads to hell".
