Fact of the Day: My Country Tis of Thee

My Country, 'Tis of Thee is one the most iconic songs for American patriotism and was the de facto national anthem until The Star-Spangled Banner was made the official one in 1931. Ironically while the lyrics are mostly original, the melody is certainly not. It's actually exactly the same as God Save the King/Queen which is the national anthem of Great Britain.
