Photo: Crying Time

My niece Little K is really people-phobic and when she saw her great-grandmother Jean try to give her attention, she started screaming and crying. Her shyness does concern me. She'll be going to school not too long from now and she'll won't have her parents to cry to every-time she is upset.

Though she did get happier after the cupcakes were brought out.

  1. It's too bad when a kid is over shy. She may have troubles fitting in in school and making friends :/ hope everything goes well!

  2. She does sound very shy, maybe she will grow out of it!

  4. Perhaps she'll outgrow it. That would be good for her.

  5. Hopefully, school will give her confidence, especially around other people.

  6. Kids always change so much after starting school. I'm sure she will mature and adjust perfectly. Until then keep a supply of cupcakes near by!

  7. Maybe they can put her in a program before school starts. My daughter was the same, so I put her in gymnastics so she would be forced to take instruction from an adult away from me before we had to deal with the tears during the first few days of school. Thankfully, I had a very patient instructor who would scoop my daughter up when it was time to go in, tell her "not today" on the tears, and wouldn't let her come back out until class was over. Took about 4 classes, but eventually she learned to adjust away from me. And, kindergarten turned out to be a breeze when it was time to say goodbye on the first day.

  8. Little K is so cute. The shyness may be a phase that she'll outgrow. I like Theresa's comment above is excellent.
