Fact of the Day: Tanuki Fur

While the use of actual fur in clothing has been harshly criticized, even faux fur has been found out to be real fur. Several American retailers had been discovered to have coats made of tanuki raccoon dogs from Asia that claimed to have been artificial in origin.

The Japanese raccoon dog (Nyctereutes procyonoides viverrinus), also known as tanuki in Japanese, is a subspecies of the Asian raccoon dog.

  5. First off, that's awful. And second off, the Tanuki suit is real? I thought they just made that up for Mario.

  6. I am really pissed off! I just hope I have nothing with this fur. I never even heard of these animals and they are so cute looking but regardless, I do t like any animal being slaughtered just for their fur even if it is a farm.
