My Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle (Nintendo Switch) Impressions

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle is one of the games I got for Christmas. The Nintendo Switch had a really strong first year, and Kingdom Battle is just one of the many games to make a big noise on the radar. Ubisoft actually made the game featuring their popular Rabbid characters (technically part of the Rayman series) where they meet Mario and his friends. The crazy Rabbid bunnies end up creating a portal and both of their worlds become mixed together.

In the story, Mario ends up meeting a Princess Peach Rabbid and a Luigi Rabbid. They aren't fusions, but rather cosplayers. Mario has to reunite with his real friends eventually.
The game is actually turn based strategy, it actually reminds me a lot of Advance Wars or Fire Emblem but certainly different. The story mode has many different types of challenges, so it's certainly unique so far.
I've had the chance to play local multiplayer and it's pretty fun. The game plays just like the single-player but the teams are equal (though each character has different stats) but the multiplayer often has more depth to the stages as there's more than enough places to hide but just like chess, sometimes when you think you're safe, you're finished. Strategy games aren't my favorite genre, but I can see why the game has gotten mostly favorable feedback.
