Story: Atlanta Train

During out Atlanta vacation, we went to and from via Amtrak. Well our return train was hours late getting to the station and the crew there gave us no idea of what to expect or why. So once the clock started to get further into the night, some people started to panic. About twenty minutes before the train started to move (as I could see the real time GPS status online), a lady screamed at the crew because her son had to be in Washington DC. She eventually left with him, but to be honest, with how slow Amtrak moves, they could have slept, taken a flight, and made it to DC before the train did. I wonder if that dude ever made it to DC and how. If only they were a bit more patient.

  5. Train travel in the US is a bloody nightmare.
I can't think of anything good about it.
I reckon that train travel pre-Civil war days was
    far more comfortable and reliable.

  6. Amtrak is constantly underfunded, yet it can't be gotten rid of, because it would mean more expensive highway construction in certain parts of the country, so that's where we're at, and have been for quite some time.
