Fact of the Day: Leonard Da Vinci

The Italian/Portuguese/Spanish name Leonardo means "brave/strong as a lion". The English/German/Dutch version of the lion name is Leonard.

  1. Ah! Now! Your talking about a very famous person from my home country....
    Leonardo da Vinci was born on 15th April 1452 near the Tuscan town of Vinci, the illegitimate son of a local lawyer. He was apprenticed to the sculptor and painter Andrea del Verrocchio in Florence and in 1478 became an independent master...
    And..Of course his two famous works were.. "The Last Supper" and the "Mona Lisa."
