My Thoughts on The Presidency of Jimmy Carter

Jimmy Carter took over after defeating Ford in the presidential election.

Jimmy Carter was really the first president to express interest in "green energy" so to speak. He even installed solar panels on the White House.  Despite this great early thinking it was met with realistic harshness of the times. There was a bad energy crisis and even gas went up to insane levels.

Despite being labeled "a terrible liberal" by conservatives, Carter did deregulate two industries while President. The first was the beer industry, which allowed some new types of beer to be made after a long ban since Prohibition.

The other was the airline industry where the government got mostly out of, except for safety regulations.

He also boycotted the 1980 Moscow Olympic games, being the only time the United States opted out of it. The reasoning was a "protest" of the Soviet war in Afghanistan.

Carter was a rather weak President who ducked under heavy fire when every one of his rivals would politically attack him. He couldn't even agree with his own party. His relations with Ted Kennedy diminished and he even tried to win the Democratic nomination from Carter. Their feud is one of the reasons why Health Care reform took so long to take place.

There was also the Iran Hostage Crisis where Iran had Americans kidnapped. They didn't even release them until Carter's term was up.

Was Carter a bad president? He had some good ideas, but if he was a stronger willed president I think he could have gotten a lot more accomplished.

PSVita To Have a 20MB Download Cap on 3G Service

Sony fans who buy one of the 3G models might want to wait to download their games while on the road. AT&T has capped Vita downloads to only 20MB which really means your games will have to be small in size if you really can't wait until you get home and use your WiFi connection.

Pokemon HeartGold Review

One of my bosses gave me a gift card for Christmas (along with everyone else in the department), and mine was one for Best Buy. They had a $20 sale on the game shortly after Christmas, and I wanted to get it. My girlfriend flipped out and started whining for me to give the copy to her, even though she already had SoulSilver. So for reasons I can't understand, I agreed and she was happy. Two months later she didn't play it once, so I took it back.
I remember playing Pokemon Silver as a kid. It was one of the best sequels of all time, and most of the kids in my middle school agreed. Unfortunately during the summer before 8th grade, I had went over a friend's lake house for the weekend. Sadly when I came home, I couldn't find my copy of Silver anywhere. I was a heartbroken little kid for a few days.  Years later as an adult, I was excited to hear the news that they would actually remake the 2nd generation of Pokemon.
That's exactly what they did too. They remade practically everything from Pokemon to gym leaders. They also added the new online features, bumped up some trainer's Pokemon levels, and some Pokemon & characters from future generations make cameos or can be fought.
It really is an epic game and thanks to the better hardware the giant quest got a little bigger. It's taken me almost a year (granted I've set it down for awhile without playing) just to complete most of the game. I've beat all the gym leaders in Johto, conquered The Elite Four,  triumphed over the Kanto gym leaders, and overcame the notorious strength of Red's Pokemon. Now I can put my Pokemon days to rest for a little while, because after that gallant journey I need a break.

A Look Into Mythology: Pangu

In Chinese mythology, Pangu is the first man to ever live and creator of all. At first the universe was nothing, but then formed into a cosmic egg, after about 18,000 years Pangu popped out. He appears to be very primitive and very hairy. He created the earth and the sky and separated them in about another 18,000 years. After that was over he apparently died. His breath became wind, his voice thunder, and his eyes formed the Sun and the moon. Talk about one eye being bigger than the other.

Things I Like: The Brady Bunch (Original TV Series)

Such a classic TV series. One of the best.
The dad was alright.
The mom was pretty hot.
So was Marcia.
Jan was such a loser, and so was her imaginary boyfriend George Glass.
I don't even remember much about Cindy. Waste of space.
The brothers were about the same except the age difference. It's time to CHAANGE!
Oh and Alice, the housemaid with the worst job in the world.

Fact of the Day: Finland Nokia

Nokia got it's name from the Finnish town of Nokia. The company originally was a wood-pulp mill and also started making rubber products in Nokia.

My Top 10 Worst No More Heroes Characters #2: Ryan Yamazaki

He's the creepy gym leader of the 2nd game. Since Thunder Ryu died, Travis needed a replacement gym to work out at.

I liked the little 2D mini-games for awhile, but there was one workout that was brutal.

Watched Resident Evil: Afterlife

The Resident Evil films can be rather hit and miss. I hated the first one, the 2nd one was good, the 3rd one was alright, but I waited to see the 4th one.
Like most of the films (except the 2nd one) this isn't really based on any particular game in the Resident Evil series. Sure they throw some characters in there, but they're almost nothing like their video game counterparts. The film starts out in a zombie-infested Tokyo with a bunch of Alice clones tearing up the place, then we see the real Alice lose her "powers", and her quest to find a place to survive.
The lack of purpose makes the film's plot sink even worse. It has some cool scenes like the shower fight with the axe-wielding  big zombie giant , but most of the film is just plain boring.
I really like Milla Jovovich, but this is one of the worst films she's ever acted in. They really need to put an end to the Resident Evil film series. It was a decent idea at first, but they're milking the cow far too long.

Watched X-Men: First Class (2011 Film)

Watched the DVD tonight, and it was awesome. It goes all the way back to the beginning of the X-Men well even before that.
It's pretty weird to see (but in a cool way) a lot of the characters we came to know and love. I think the best character in the movie was James McAvoy as Charles Xavier. He didn't remind me much of the old Professor X, however he had his own charm, and I enjoyed his witty remarks about his future self near the end of the movie.
I think the best part of the movie is the friendship between the younger versions of Charles Xavier and Magneto.
The other X-Men are pretty much the ones that never get mentioned or shown in most movies or TV shows. An interesting take I suppose, but was Iceman too hard to ask for?
It's action packed, very humorous, and one of the best superhero movies based on a classic comic series in a long time.

A Look Into Mythology: Yomi

Yomi is a place in Japan's Shinto religion where the dead go to dwell and rot for all time. It's very comparable to the underworld of many faiths.
It is guarded and ruled by the Goddess Izanami no Mikoto. One of the few versions of a dark underworld run by a female deity.

Things I Like: Wishbone (TV series)

We watched this a lot when I was in school.
It did a very good job at promoting reading to kids.
Wishbone would actually dress up and act up like the heroes of the book they read.
Plus Wishbone was cute.

Fact of Day: Tallest Woman Ever

Record belongs to China's Zeng Jinlian who was 8 ft and 1.75 in tall before she died in 1982.

My Top 10 Worst No More Heroes Characters #3: Jasper Batt Jr.

He appears as the first rank fighter in the 2nd game, but c'mon he was a dork. His form was a stupid flying car, his 2nd was a super-hulk version of himself, and the 3rd was like a Macy's Thanksgiving Day balloon.

Gov. Nikki Haley Orders That “It's a great day in South Carolina!" When It's Not

Nikki Haley is having trouble with her public image. The press hates her, the people hate her, and for good reason too. So what can she do to make South Carolina look better except try fix unemployment and low wages? Well she's ordered every state employee that answers a phone to say  “It's a great day in South Carolina. How can I help you?” I hope she enjoys the media backlash from this.

Fact of the Day: Sonic Hated Sega Saturn

Do you remember Sonic X-treme? Well of course you don't because it never came out.

That's right, it was suppose to be Sega's big Sonic game for their new console.

It started out as a 2.5D Sonic platformer.

But it eventually went to a more free-3D style like the Sonic Adventure games. After failed development issues, Sega canned X-treme. Thus making Sonic's only appearance on the system in just old re-releases packs, and spin-off games like Sonic R.
