A Look Into Video Games: Famicom Modem







The Famicom Modem (ファミコンネットシステム which is literally Family Computer Network System) was an add-on for the Japanese version of the NES released in 1988. It would connect to a server (very rare back then) and provide the user with game cheats, jokes, weather forecasts, and you could even perform stock trades with it. However it did not allow online play.

haha wow that looks so ancient now, but it wasn't really that long ago in the grand scheme of things.
