My Favorite Memories: Recent Wedding Guest Photo

My girlfriend's aunt got married last month, and we went. I had some photos on my cell phone, but I had to wait for Daisy's cousin to get me a photo of Daisy and I. As for her aunt's wedding, it was okay. Very small and over in a flash.

Fact of the Day: This Goldfish Got Memory

There's an urban legend that states that goldfish can only remember 5 seconds of time. However it's been proven that they can remember at least sounds for at least 5 months.

A Look Into Video Games: Beedrill

Beedrill is a pokemon evolving from Kakuna, and the final form of Weedle. While I think it's worse than the Caterpie trio, I can say that it's poison abilities come in handy at times.

A Look Into History: U.S. Presidential Election of 1924

With the death of Harding in 1923, Vice President Calving Coolidge took control of the country. The incumbent president was nominated without much trouble.

My Favorite Memories: Sleepy Road-Trip

Back in the early 90's minivans weren't popular and perhaps not even out yet. We had one of the regular full-sized vans, which gave us a lot of room and was plenty comfortable. On a trip back home my brothers and I feel asleep in the van and my mom snapped a photo of us. I'm on the left, Brandon is on the right, and Zach's in the back.

A Look Into Video Games: Kakuna

Besides looking a little more intimidating than it's original form of Weedle, Kakuna is pretty worthless. Just like Metapod. Merely serving as a 2nd form until it can become a little better in the final evolution.

Fact of the Day: Bulls Don't Hate Red

While many believe a red cape makes a bull enraged, it's actually the movement of the cape that makes it charge. Red is not a bright color to a bull's eye.

Things I Like: The Waterboy (1998 Film)

While it wasn't as good as Billy Madison or Happy Gilmore, I thought this was a pretty good Adam Sandler movie. It was cheesy, stupid, and crude, but I found it very entertaining.
I think one of the reasons is because his character is such a charming goober.
I just love the football scenes where he gets enraged and takes people out.
I also liked how his mom was bonkers and thought everything (including Ben Franklin) was the devil.
The food they ate was pretty nasty though. Remind me to never accept an invitation to eat in Cajun country.

A Look Into TV Series: Barney Gumble

Barney Gumble is the local town drunk on The Simpsons and one of it's most beloved characters.
If you thought Homer Simpson was an alcoholic then Barney's body is 90% Duff beer.
He was also in the center of really funny and oddball humor.
Then he sobered up and it didn't feel the same anymore...

Things I Hate: Going Overboard (1989 Film)

I rented this movie about ten years ago. I was a big fan of Adam Sandler movies at the time, and I couldn't believe I've never heard of it. One of the reasons was because it was before his fame on Saturday Night Live, and the other is because it's trash.

A Look Into History: Hachiko

Known in Japan as 忠犬ハチ公 (Chuken Hachiko) or in English as Faithful Dog Hachiko was a Akita breed dog that was born in Japan in 1923. In 1924 University of Tokyo professor Hidesaburo Ueno took ownership of Hachiko.
The two had a daily routine. When his master returned from work, Hachiko would greet him at the train tracks. Sadly for Hachiko, his master died from a cerebral hemorrhage, and Hachiko never saw him again.
Hachiko returned the day after, the day after that, and so on. People had begun to notice the dog's extreme loyalty and love for his departed master. Hachiko returned to the same train station every day for 9 years. His story was picked up and Hachiko became a national symbol for loyalty. Hachiko died in 1935 of what scientists believe was cancer. Hopefully he met his master at the train station in the clouds.

Fact of the Day: The State of Blue Hills

Massachusetts is named after a local Native American tribe of the Massachusett people. The name literally means something like "by the blue hills".

A Look Into Video Games: Weedle

Weedle is a pokemon from the original game(s) though he's more like the poor person's Caterpie. I never liked Weedle or his following evolutions.

My Favorite Memories: Family Pizza Night

While it's just a normal family photo I do miss the old pizza nights. We didn't get them often outside our birthdays. I'm on the far right, two of my brothers are on the left, and one of my brothers' friend is on the bottom right. My oldest brother Steven is obviously way older than us. He was in his awkward teen years. Ah the early 90's when Little Ceasers pizza was awesome (it's okay now since the $5 dollar deal), and Pepsi had a cool logo and tasted sweet.

Things I Hate: Batman & Robin (1997 Film)

While the Batman movies started out great, it had a downhill moment which ended with this film. It wasn't until about 8 years later that Hollywood would touch another Batman film starting a new series with Batman Begins.

A Look Into History: Hurricane Iniki

Hurricane Iniki was a category 4 hurricane striking Hawaii in 1992. The gusts of winds reached about 230 mph. It formed on September 5th and didn't end until the 13th. It took 6 lives directly.

A Look Into Video Games: Bass (Megaman Series)

Bass is Megaman's rival starting with Megaman 7 and so on. Created by Dr. Wily he serves as a kinda Dark-Megaman though he's not terribly evil and sometimes lends a hand to Megaman.
I wish he'd come out sooner, because 7 was a bit late in the game.
Since I never liked 7, I didn't play enough to see any of the cooler parts.

Megaman might have a helpful robot dog named Rush, but Bass has one-uped him. He has a fierce robot dog named Treble.
He also has some pretty dorky back-story.
Bass and Megaman even starred in Megaman & Bass originally on the SNES (Japan-only) and an American release on GBA.
You could unlock him in Megaman 10 for WiiWare, PSN, and XBLA. He was a decent alternate character.

Bass is named after the musical instrument of the same name. In Japanese his name is フォルテ (Forute) which is based on Forte a dynamic in music.

Fact of the Day: The Great Wall Is Hard To See From Up Here

Many people believe The Great Wall of China is the only man-made object you can see from space. This is not true and not to mention the great wall is almost invisible from orbit. There is one man-made object that's very easy to see which are city lights. They're hard to miss on the night-side of Earth.

My Favorite Memories: Spring Fling Fair

Every year my city holds a little fair event called the Spring Fling. It has basically everything you'd expect from a fair except the rides are more for kids.

Things I Like: Batman Forever

While it wasn't as good as the first two movies, I still enjoyed this film a lot when I was kid.
Instead of Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer takes up the role as Bruce Wayne/Batman. I thought his Bruce Wayne role was kinda weak.
He was a decent Batman.
I do like the scene where he befriends Robin.
I guess if anyone was perfect for the role of The Riddler it would be Jim Carrey.
Tommy Lee Jones was a decent Two-Face.
Sure it took a more kid-friendly turn, but I didn't mind back then when I was a kid. It's cheesy and goofy, but it sure was better than Batman and Robin

A Look Into TV Series: Santa's Little Helper

Santa's Little Helper is a character from The Simpsons serving as the family dog. Even though he doesn't do much, he's one of more lovable characters on the show.

My Favorite Memories: Airshow Ride

Back in the early 90's we went to airshows a lot. The local airport would always have a decent one going on every year (no more of those currently), and there was plenty to see, do, or buy. I remember this ride pretty well, you sat in the little cart while the big tractor thing pulled you. It's kinda dumb I admit but not to a 2 or 3 year old. I'm in the red cart, my brother Brandon is in the yellow, and my brother Zach is in the blue.

A Look Into History: U.S. Presidential Election of 1920

With the end of World War I and Wilson's 2nd term coming to a close, Democrats nominated Governor James M. Cox of Ohio.

A Look Into Video Games: Butterfree

Butterfree is the final evolution of Caterpie and one of my favorite pokemon. Nice physic and poison powers with Butterfree on your team.

Fact of the Day: Don't Name The Land After Me

Pennsylvania is named after Sir William Penn after receiving a land grant from King Charles II.  Penn himself objected to the name since he didn't want people thinking he named it after himself. However the king refused to honor his wish of renaming it something different like New Wales.

My Day Yesterday: Tennis!

My girlfriend gave me the idea to play Tennis the other day when she suggested it. I knew there was a public tennis court in a park near my house. Though I've only seen the back of it on a nature trail.  I've never played real tennis before and neither has she.
We didn't have rackets or tennis balls so we had to go to the store near her house. And while we were there she found this bunny rabbit. I had gotten her the same one last year for Easter except this year is a bit remodeled.  After that we bought our stuff and went.
Luckily while we were there were only 2 other groups playing tennis. They had the left side of the courts, and we had the right. So that gave us room to practice, and Daisy wasn't exactly good at first.
Daisy was willing, and after the first 30 minutes she learned the ropes.
I should have waited to bring my mom or brother along, because going after run-away tennis balls gets tiring.
Daisy had snacks covered.
We managed to play a sorta-real game of tennis (with non-strict rules for her sake), and near the end Daisy managed to make a few good moves.
But I'm far above her skill level (probably all the baseball experience) so it wasn't hard winning the match. But we'll keep going every week until we get good.
