Fact of the Day: The State of De La Warr


The state of Delaware, along with a bay and river of the same name are named after Englishman Thomas West. He was the 3rd Baron of De La Warr.

I had never heard that. Pretty interesting.

I was on my way to PA last yr and entering Delaware I got held up at the border at a toll booth to get in. Almost 4 bucks and 45 min wait.

Its a little known fact but thats actually why Wshington crossed in a boat in the dark.

I'm trying to think how best to apply that info in order to impress someone here in England. I'm not entirely sure your average English man would've even heard of Deleware, let alone the actuality it was named after lone of us.
