Fact of the Day: You're No Karate Master


Despite popular misconception, a black belt is not exactly the highest rank in a martial art and it doesn't require mastery to obtain. It was first introduced to Judo in the 1880s, and it's use varies greatly depending on the martial art and the country it's being practised.

My daughter is a black belt pro-temp in Tae Kwon Do. It is true that most people don't realize there is more than just black belt. There are several Dans to go through.
