A Look Into History: John Abbott

John Abbott was a Canadian lawyer, politician, and later became the 3rd Prime Minister of Canada. Abbott admitted regrettably in his youth that he signed a protest event petition for Canada to be annexed by the United States while in Quebec. However in his older life he was elected to the House of Commons, but was ejected from his seat after helping Prime Minister John A. MacDonald in the Pacific Scandal. After McDonald's death in his 2nd term, Abott became Prime Minister while serving in the Senate. During his 17 month reign, he had a rather boring term. He did however manage to have successful gains in elections for his Conservative party before resigning due to ill health, and died less than year later at the age of 72.
