Fact of the Day: Proud Parentage

Birds are believed to have evolved directly from dinosaurs. More specifically the theropod group of dinosaurs. Over millions of years, the change led to smaller species, and eventually the change where scales evolved into feathers.

  5. i was obsessed with dinosaurs when i was little, and it is truth that birds evolved from reptiles, if we would look nowadays at... let's say , a featherless chicken ... it will clearly resemble a small biped dinosaur

  6. Birds are truly fascinating creatures. They are actually more physiologically advanced than primates, which is why some taxonomists place them at the tip-top of phylogenetic trees. Their lungs are what I find most fascinating: air flows in a single direction so no amount of air from which oxygen has already been absorbed remains in the lungs during the next breath (unlike human lungs, which are less efficient due to the presence of left over "bad air" after each breath).
