Fact of the Day: Fossil Heaven

Discovered by Charles Walcott in 1909, the Burgess Shale is a fossil field located in Canada's British Columbia. It is often remarked as "the best of its kind" as it helped advance the Theory of Evolution with scientists being able to investigate incredibly detailed remains of creatures from over 500 million years ago.

Interesting. While there is proof of creatures that old, they don't prove evolution, just that the earth has been around a long time with many creations come and gone.

I'm surprised my dad didn't take us to this site when we lived in BC...we often went fossil hunting in the Midwest.
