Fact of the Day: Green Santa

Like his British inspiration Father Christmas, Santa's original color of robes were green. They turned red largely in thanks to Coca-Cola who wanted him to wear their colors.

In a lot of older images you see him in green, but I have to confess, I am kind of grateful to Coca-Cola for changing him into red; it is much more jolly!

I didn't know that! Very interesting. I wonder how he looks in green. I'll have to search the internet and see if I can find some old images.

Santa was invented by Coca Cola. Before that we only had Saint Nicholas who still brings presents to kids in some part of Europe a week or two before Christmas.
