Fact of the Day: Ancient Sheep

Sheep were one of the first animals that man ever domesticated. Which happened in central Asia in about 10,000 BC. It took roughly 6,500 years later for man to learn how to spin wool.

  4. It's not the dogs (wolves, coyotes, salvage dogs .... ) that the men domesticated first ? very surprising !

    1. "one of the first" not the first. Dogs are generally the one animal most biologists and historians agree on.

  6. i am currently reading 1493, which talks about the last 500 years of human history, and I think they mention something about domesticated animals. Where do you get random facts like this?

    1. various places I suppose. My endless supply comes from the fact that most of anything has surprises about it. Do a little research on one subject and you'd be amaze what you'd find.
