Japanese Words for the Day: Furniture

 Furniture is 家具 (Kagu)
 Book case is 本棚 (Hondana)
 Bed is ベッド (Beddo) which is based on the English word. Also to note that western-style beds are rare in Japan. Futons (which are much different than the American version) are more common for the house. 
 Rug is じゅうたん (Jutan)
Armchair is ひじ掛けいす (Hijikake isu)

The Katakana is really very English like direct sound with a Japanese touch !

i just wet to a Japanese restaurant, i had to ask for a fork because I don't know how to use chopsticks. how do you say fork in Japanese?
