Fact of the Day: Brazil's Valentine's Day

Valentines Day is not celebrated in Brazil. One of the reasons is that the date conflicts with the Brazilian Carnival. There is a romantic holiday known as Dia dos Namorados which is celebrated on June 12th.

  1. Now this is very interesting. I was surprised that they celebrated Valentines Day in Japan. My cousin told me the office workers had to give candy their bosses though. Tsk.

  5. we don't celebrate either here. In Serbia it's a day of a Saint who is the patron of vine and vineyard owners.

  12. Than I would also prefer carnaval. Have you been there with carnaval in Rio. People say it is dangerous. What's your opinion?
