Fact of the Day: Month of Mars

March's name come from Roman times where it was once called Martius. The month is named after Mars, the Roman God of War. Mars' equivalent in Greek myth is Ares.

Well, I'm glad it's Martius again.... I think we're entitled to a bit of spring again, wouldn't you say, Adam?

I agree with John—glad they shortened it!

it's kind of weird that such a beautiful time of the year was named after a war god

Maybe that is why my son, who was born in March, has such a bad temper. He must think he's going to war.

I find mythology fascinating. March is one of my favourite months of the year because spring arrives.
