The Muppets (2011 Film) Review

As a child I remember watching various shows and movies involving The Muppets. I suppose it was with my generation that Kermit and his pals started to fade in popularity  Especially when the series creator Jim Henson passed away in 1990.  Over 20 years later, Disney decided to make a major movie hoping to revive the series for the better.
The film starts out with the muppet Walter, and his life-story with his human-brother Gary. The two brothers (especially Walter) were the biggest fans of the Muppets since childhood. Gary tells Walter that he's going to go to Los Angeles with his girlfriend, and invites him along so he can visit the original Muppet Studios. However when they arrive, they discover that the studios are old and practically deserted.
Walter overhears a businessman wanting to take over the land, and to tear the studio down. Walter then decides to find Kermit the Frog, and convinces him to put on one last show to save their old studios. However Kermit must reunite all the Muppets, and convince a TV studio that the Muppets still have their magic.
Even though I was never the biggest Muppets fan, I really enjoyed this new film. It's cute, funny, clever, and mixes it's retro charm well with present day entertainment. Some of the musical parts fall a bit flat, but I think if Jim Henson was alive today he'd be proud of Kermit's new adventure.

  1. This sounds like fun. I used to enjoy watching the Muppets with my children when they were young. How sad to hear they are no longer very popular.

  8. I was raised to be a muppets fan and I'm still a bit upset that I haven't had the time to see this. It'll definitely be on my to-do list for the near future.
