Fact of the Day: Day of War

Tuesday get its name from Tyr, a god of war in Norse mythology and one of the sons of Odin. He was comparable to Mars, the god of War in Roman mythology. Because of this, the name for Tuesday is often named after Mars in other languages. Such as Martes in Spanish, Mardi in French, and Martedi in Italian.

See, in Mandarin it's way easier. It's literally, "Sun" day and then day 1, day 2, day 3, etc..

That explains why Tuesday is Mardi in French! Thank you, Adam!

I never got into mythology, so I never would have known this.
