Fact of the Day: Father of Automobiles

While some inventions have been claimed to be the first automobile, the inventor of the first modern automobile is much clearer. That man was Karl Benz of Germany, who invented his motorcar in 1886.

    What Ford did was revolutionize production and worker relations in the first modern mass production scheme that made the auto available and affordable to workers. Wages were high, Detroit flourished. . . . . .

  19. I didn't know that. I knew Ford wasn't the first, but I wasn't sure where the first automobile was made. I was thinking the UK.
