Fact of the Day: Thor's Day

Thursday's name is derived from the Norse god of thunder Thor. In some other European languages Thursday is named after the Roman god Jupiter (who could be considered a thunder god) such as jueves in Spanish.

Interesting. I'm hoping you'll do the same type of post for Friday and that Friday looks less frightening.

I'm liking these days of the week origins. I'm learning Spanish now that I live in Mexico and I used to confuse Jueves with Huevos. 'J' is pronounced like 'H' and 'H' is not pronounced at all. In my confusion, I sometimes ordered 'Thursdays Rancheros' for breakfast.

They've been talking about Thor a lot on the "Vikings" series.

I think "Thorsday" would be a lot cooler. It should be changed.
