Fact of the Day: Antarctica Nations

While the lands of Antarctica have no permanent residents, the regions are split by various claims by different nations.  The United Kingdom, Norway, New Zealand, France, Australia, Chile, and Argentina all have official territorial claims.

apparently we've tried and were considered but we don't any yet. Apparently along with Russia and some others we reserved our right to make a claim but never got farther than that.

seems like you'll would, but nope. But if you think about it, Canada is about as far away from the south pole as you can get.
