Fact of the Day: July Independence

While the date of Independence Day is July 4th in America, this was only the date where the Declaration of Independence was ratified by the Continental Congress.  The congress had approved a resolution of independence two days earlier on July 2nd. Future-president John Adams thought July 2nd would be the date celebrated by the new generations.

A celebration from the second to the fourth might have been even better!
